Coaching Supervision

Coaching supervision offers a structured, confidential and reflective space for people who coach or mentor others. It can support independent coaches and mentors, internal workplace coaches, and practitioners, managers or leaders whose wider role includes coaching or mentoring.

It provides time to reflect on your practice, your relationships with clients or colleagues, and how the work affects you. You might bring a particular session, an ethical question, uncertainty about your approach, or something in the working relationship that you want to understand more fully.

My approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, neuro-affirming and inclusive. It draws on coaching principles, established supervision frameworks and my experience of coaching, mentoring and supporting practitioners.

Sessions are guided by your priorities and may help you to:

  • reflect on coaching or mentoring sessions, relationships and outcomes
  • explore ethical questions, boundaries, confidentiality, safeguarding and responsibilities
  • understand your own responses, assumptions and recurring patterns within the work
  • consider how identity, lived experience, power and organisational context influence practice
  • navigate the boundaries between coaching, mentoring, management and other responsibilities
  • recognise strengths, achievements and areas for learning or development
  • explore uncertainty, imposter feelings, isolation and the emotional impact of the work
  • strengthen confidence, assertiveness and professional judgement, including communicating boundaries and developing sustainable practice

Supervision makes space for what has gone well as well as what feels difficult. I bring careful listening, curiosity and thoughtful challenge, supporting you to deepen your understanding and consider different perspectives.

How Supervision Works

The focus is on your practice as a coach or mentor, bringing together support for wellbeing, learning and development, and ethical and professional accountability. Reflective dialogue may lead to practical next steps or draw on coaching approaches and experience-informed mentoring where helpful. The purpose and emphasis are agreed together and can be reviewed as your needs change.

Support can range from a single focused session to a defined block or ongoing support. It can be self-funded or commissioned by an employer or organisation. Where support is commissioned, its purpose and any review or feedback arrangements are agreed in advance and are clear to you. Detailed session content is not routinely shared with the commissioning employer or organisation.

Coaching supervision is not therapy, line management or an assessment of your competence for a qualification or accreditation. Its primary focus is your coaching or mentoring practice, while allowing space to explore personal circumstances, career goals and development where these are relevant to you and the work.
