My Experience

My practice is shaped by long-term work in complex, emotionally demanding settings, and by a strong commitment to reflective, relational, and values-based practice.

With over 35 years’ experience across mental health, advocacy, leadership, and community wellbeing, I have worked in senior leadership, service development, and frontline roles within statutory, community, and voluntary sectors. My work has consistently focused on creating safe, inclusive, and person-centred support for people affected by inequality, discrimination, trauma, and social isolation.

Alongside extensive professional experience, my approach is also informed by personal insight and lived understanding, deepening my awareness of the emotional, relational, and systemic impact of complex work.

I have led specialist and by-and-for services in areas including suicide prevention, independent mental health advocacy, psychosocial and psychoeducational support, health inequalities, and community crisis response. Many years of working in high-risk, emotionally demanding environments have given me deep insight into the psychological, ethical, and interpersonal impact of supporting others. This experience continues to inform a trauma informed and reflective way of working.

At the heart of my work are trust, collaboration, and close attention to the emotional and relational impact of support on those receiving it. I offer a confidential and compassionate space to slow down, reflect, and make sense of personal and professional challenges. My style is flexible and responsive, guided by your priorities, identity, values, and pace, and supports clarity, confidence, resilience, and sustainable practice.

My work is informed by specialist experience, training, and established clinical supervision and coaching frameworks. It is underpinned by a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and intersectional practice, with close attention to how identity, power, and social context shape people’s experiences and vulnerabilities.

My Values

My practice is grounded in clear values that shape how I work, the spaces I create, and the relationships I build. These values guide my approach across supervision, reflective practice, coaching, and mentoring, and are informed by both extensive professional experience and personal insight.

Trans-affirmative practice: My practice is explicitly trans-affirmative, grounded in extensive professional experience and a clear personal and professional commitment to trans and non-binary inclusion and equality. This includes actively challenging transphobia and supporting trans and non-binary people.

Anti-racist practice: Anti-racist practice means actively recognising, challenging, and addressing racism at individual, organisational, and systemic levels. It involves reflecting on power, privilege, and inequality, listening to lived experience, and working in ways that promote fairness, inclusion, and accountability. In my work, this means creating reflective spaces where the impact of racism can be named, explored, and taken seriously.

Boundaries and ethics: I believe that clear, compassionate boundaries are essential to safe, effective, and respectful work. Ethical practice underpins everything I do, and supports trust, clarity, and psychological safety within reflective and relational spaces. This includes supporting reflection on bias, assumptions and power, and offering appropriate, respectful challenge where these impact ethical or inclusive practice. It also includes being transparent about roles, relationships, and potential conflicts of interest, and working thoughtfully with boundaries where prior connections or changes in the nature of the work arise.

Access and inclusion: I am committed to working in ways that recognise and respect difference, complexity, and individual circumstance. Inclusion and accessibility are core values that shape how I approach engagement, flexibility, and responsiveness in my work.

Psychological safety: I am committed to creating psychologically safe spaces where people can speak openly, reflect honestly, and explore challenges without fear of judgement or repercussion. Psychological safety is central to meaningful reflection, learning, and sustainable practice.

Empowerment and agency: I am committed to working in ways that support people to maintain agency, autonomy, and a sense of ownership over their decisions and direction. Empowerment in my practice means creating space for reflection, confidence, and clarity, while respecting individual pace, context, and lived experience.

Social justice and sustainability: My work is shaped by a strong commitment to social justice and an understanding of the realities of community, voluntary, and specialist sectors. I aim to support reflective, ethical, and sustainable practice in roles that are emotionally demanding or socially complex.
